Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University Holds "Wonderful Ice and Snow, Together For a Shared Future" - Seminar on the theme of Beijing Winter Olympics

The Beijing Winter Paralympics is about to end, but the enthusiasm of the students of the Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University for the Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympic Games has not diminished. In order to guide students a better understanding of the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games, on March 13, Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University held an online lecture on the theme of "Wonderful Ice and Snow, Together For a Shared Future" Winter Olympics. Dhruba Paudel, President of the Sino Nepal Media Society, Li Xiaoxiao, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office,  Hebei University of Economics and Business, and teachers and students of the Confucius Institute participated in the event online. 

Dhruba delivered a speech in both Chinese and Nepali languages. He said that Nepal, as a friendly neighbor of China, supports the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games very much, and everyone actively pays attention to the information of the games through the media reports. During the COVID-19 pandemic, China has successfully hosted the Beijing Winter Olympics, which is admirable and remarkable. The Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics have applied many advanced technologies, which have impressed the world with admiration. Nepal owns 15% of the ice and snow mountains and expects to carry out more cooperation with China in ice and snow projects. 

Dr. Sathish Shrestha (Dalong) introduced the history, cultural attractions and customs of Beijing, the host city of the Olympic Games, the time of the Beijing Winter Paralympics, competition items, events, the Olympic spirit, the Winter Olympics emblem, and the Winter Olympics mascot "Bingdundun" and "Xue Rongrong" and other aspects. Mr. Niroj Maharjan (Zhushan) explained the history of the Winter Olympics, the ice events and snow events of the 24th Beijing Winter Olympics.

All the students were attentively and deeply attracted by the vivid and interesting lecture content and the fluent Chinese of the two lecturers. They not only gained a wealth of knowledge of the Winter Olympics, but also felt the charm of the Olympic spirit and the style of ice and snow sports.

This theme lecture popularized more knowledge of the Winter Olympics, made the students understand the stories of the Winter Olympics, Beijing stories, and Chinese stories, and improved the students' enthusiasm for ice and snow sports. Everyone expressed their support for the Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics and congratulations to China for successfully hosting such two amazing sports events!
