Board Meeting of the Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University held online

On May 30, the Board Meeting of the Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University in Nepal was successfully held online. Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa, Nepalese Chairman of the Board and Vice-Chancellor of Kathmandu University, Prof. Dr. He Zhiqiang, Chinese Chairman of the BoardVice President of Hebei University of Economics and Business,  Prof. Dr. Subodh Sharma, Registrar of Kathmandu University and Foreign Director of the Confucius Institute, Mr. Zhang Si, Head of the Cultural Group, Political and News Section, Chinese Embassy in Nepal, and other board members attended the meeting.

In his speech, Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chinese Embassy in Nepal and Hebei University of Economics and Business for their strong support for the work of the Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University. He said that under the severe situation of the global epidemic, Hebei University of Economics and Business and Kathmandu University worked together to overcome the difficulties and successfully completed various tasks of the Confucius Institute in the past year, and achieved considerable results. He also put forward hopes and suggestions on the enrollment of Confucius Institute programs, the construction of Confucius Institute buildings, and exchanges between teachers and students.

Prof. Dr. He Zhiqiang expressed his warm congratulations on the successful convening of this board meeting and his sincere thanks to all board members for their hard work. He hoped that the two universities will continue to serve the local Chinese education based on educational cooperation and the exchange of teachers and students, so as to continuously enhance mutual understanding of civilizations and people-to-people bonds between the two countries.

According to the meeting agenda, the meeting added new board members, reviewed and approved the 2021 work report, annual final budget, 2022 work plan and annual budget of the Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University, and exchanged views on issues related to the construction of the Confucius Institute.
