On 9th September, 2021, Prof. Dr. Subodh Sharma, Registrar of Kathmandu University and Foreign Director of Confucius Institute at KU was invited to give presentation entitled "Promoting Chinese + Vocational Training Program in Nepal of Confucius Institutes at Kathmandu University” at the 2021 Online Seminar for Local Directors of Confucius Institute hosted by the Chinese International Education Foundation.

Professor Subodh Sharma first introduced the practice of Confucius Institutes in carrying out "Chinese and Vocational Education", focusing on the Confucius Institute's "Chinese and Tourism" talent training course, "Chinese and Chinese Culinary Culture" training course, "Chinese plus rice cultivation technology" training course, "Chinese plus auto repair" training course and other successful cases, showing Confucius Institute’s successful cooperation with the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, the Nepal Government Center for Vocational Training Management, Hebei University of Economics and Business, other relevant domestic universities, related industries in Nepal, the University of Kathmandu and other parties. He analyzed the successful experience of Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University, put forward the operation mode of the "Chinese-Vocational Education Group" (VEG) with Confucius Institute as its core, and through the analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of the participants in this model, as well as the challenges and reasons for successful cooperation, put forward some countermeasures such as setting up a cooperation platform, encouraging enterprises to actively participate, accurately locating the training target.

The Seminar for Local Directors of Confucius Institute was organized by East China Normal University, using the form of online study to conduct special lectures and sub-forum discussions. The purpose of this seminar is to enhance the understanding of foreign deans on the transformation and development of Confucius Institutes, to strengthen the sharing of experiences and exchange of experiences among foreign directors, and to promote the better development of Confucius Institutes in the new era.
