On August 27, Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University in Nepal successfully held a selection test for local Chinese teachers.

There are as many as 36 applicants for this recruitment, and the applicants have high overall quality. Among them are the champions of the Chinese Bridge, as well as the Ph.D. and master students who have returned to Nepal from their China studies. They all have the corresponding HSK level certificate and related experience with Chinese language teaching. Confucius Institute selects and recruits the best based on the principle of "fair competition and comprehensive examination".

The test is mainly conducted by interview. It is divided into three sections: self-introduction, reading materials and Q&A. It mainly examines the applicant’s mastery of Chinese knowledge and proficiency in the fields of Chinese teaching and teaching methods, cultural communication skills, etc. In the question and answer session, each candidate opened up and sincerely expressed the love and desire for the work of Chinese language teachers.

In recent years, thanks to the unremitting efforts of all the teachers of Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University, the international education of Chinese has developed vigorously in Nepal, and the number of people learning Chinese has increased year by year. Affected by the epidemic of COVID-19 this year, some Chinese native teachers have been postponed to work in Nepal. The recruitment of local teachers will not only further promote the localization of Chinese language teachers, but also solve the problem of teacher shortage. Local Chinese teachers will continue to go hand in hand with Chinese teachers to jointly promote the development of Chinese language education in Nepal.
