On the afternoon of June 9, 2021, the annual meeting of the Confucius Institute Council at the University of Zambia was held via video link. Prof. Dr. Liu Bing, President of Hebei University of Economics and Business, Dr. Tamala Tonga Kambikambi, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Zambia, Prof. Dr. He Zhiqiang, Vice Chairman of the Confucius Institute Council and Vice President of our University, Mr. Liu Jiangyi, member of the Confucius Institute Council and Vice Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of the Provincial Department of Education in Hebei, attended the meeting, as well as the Chinese and Foreign Directors of the Confucius Institute, the leaders in charge of the Office of Foreign Affairs, the School of International Education and the School of Culture and Communication.

The 2020 work summary, final accounts, 2021 work plan, and annual budget were adopted with unanimous approval. At the same time, they exchanged opinions on topics such as the teachers’ reserve, training of local teachers, connotation construction of the “Chinese+” mode, analyzed the opportunities and challenges faced by the Confucius Institute after its transfer, and jointly discussed solutions to the these challenges.
